The support of talent is a top priority of the MHL. The focus lies on benefits directly related to the university and on active co-operations with reputable organizations that offer scholarships or financial support.
Scholarships and grants with direct relation to the MHL
Scholarships of the Possehl Foundation AgÑÇÓιú¼Ê¼¯ÍÅ_»Ê×åµç×Ó¾º¼¼¾ãÀÖ²¿-¹ÙÍøappÏÂÔØ
The aim is to promote highly qualified and artistically talented artists studying at the MHL. Up to 10 scholarships are awarded in the amount of €500 per month for a year or partial scholarships of up to the total sum of all grants, totaling €60,000 per academic year. Registrations are submitted via the main teacher to the President of the MHL. The announcement of the annual university-internal selection process can be found in intranet.
Scholarships of the Dr. Herbert und Anne-Marie Lembcke Ad Infinitum Foundation
The goal is to award up to 8 scholarships in the current amount of €700 per month per selected fellow funded by the University ¨C subject to any review of the application documents by the Trust Management. As far as the fellows receive benefits under the Federal Training Assistance Act or similar promotions, the monthly grant will be reduced to €300. The awarding of scholarships takes place according to a university-internal selection process. Dates for the selection process and the precise application criteria are announced per notice and posted in intranet.
F?rderergesellschaft der MHL
The Sponsoring Society makes it possible for MHL students to participate in competitions and master classes. It provides scholarships and interest-free loans for the purchase of instruments.
Musikhochschulstiftung an der MHL
Another area is the promotion of young artists at the MHL: from the provision and funding of appropriate instruments to support and implementation of guest lectures at the MHL. In addition, the human, financial and moral support is for the purposes specified in the statute.
YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now AgÑÇÓιú¼Ê¼¯ÍÅ_»Ê×åµç×Ó¾º¼¼¾ãÀÖ²¿-¹ÙÍøappÏÂÔØ
The nonprofit organization Live Music Now (LMN) was founded by Lord Yehudi Menuhin in England 1977. Its purpose is to encourage the peoples interest for live performances of classical music as well as supporting young and talented musicians. The association Live Music Now AgÑÇÓιú¼Ê¼¯ÍÅ_»Ê×åµç×Ó¾º¼¼¾ãÀÖ²¿-¹ÙÍøappÏÂÔØ e.V. supports young and highly talented musicians since 2004. A jury consisting of MHL professors elects the recipients by their musical performance.
Other Institutions who offer financial support
STIBET Within the program of scholarship and support (STIBET), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) facilitates to the MHL financial resources to award grants and to offer support and asistence for foreign students (e.g. German courses). The call for applications opens up at the beginning of April and the beginning of October, closing respectively in mid April and mid October. Detailed information on the required application documents can be found on the intranet.
DAAD-Prize
The DAAD prize of €1,000 is awarded once a year to foreign students. The student must be his/her main study stage, or in advanced levels of the Bachelor (at least 2nd or 3rd year) or Master's degree (at least second semester), possess superior academic performance and be societally and socially committed. Self-nomination is not possible.
Deutschlandstipendium
At present the MHL is granting 7 Germany Scholarships. These scholarships are intended for exceptionally gifted students. The aim is to provide financial support to students through the federal government, foundations and companies, associations and private individuals. The Possehl Foundation, Rotary Club, Yamaha and Marie-Luise Imbusch-Stiftung will fund part of the Germany Scholarship. Fifty percent of the financial support will be born by the federal government in the form of complementary financing. The Germany Scholarship is limited in duration to two semesters.

The Cusanus encourages young students who pursue their studies with high professional qualifications, interdisciplinary interest and creative imagination.
Hans und Eugenia J¨¹tting-Stiftung Stendal
The Foundation awards scholarships once a year to gifted German and Polish music students who study at a German or Polish Academy of Music.
Hinrichsen-Stiftung
The Hinrichsen Foundation can provide interim assistance or scholarships.
M?rkische Kulturkonferenz e.V.
The aim of the M?rkischen Kulturkonferenz culture is to promote young artists by awarding three scholarships: for music, literature, visual arts. At the same time this is an enrichment of cultural life in the Mark Brandenburg district.
PE-F?rderkreis f¨¹r Studierende der Musik e.V.
Exceptionally talented students of music are provided support in obtaining their own instrument according to their artistic maturity. Special loans are earmarked for this purpose and are granted interest-free and adapted to the duration of the training period. Repayment rates are calculated according to individual needs. In the usual bank interest is waived by the foundation.
Rotary Stipendien - Studentenhilfe Viadrina e.V.
These grants are directed towards Polish students. The aim is to provide financial support to exceptionally gifted students in advanced levels of studies. The scholarships are granted after personal interview under consideration of the economic and social situation of the applicant.
Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes
The administrations of state music conservatories in Germany are entitled to admission procedures of the academic foundation. Beforehand, a University-internal pre-selection process is required, which is conducted by local lecturers. At the MHL, this is Prof. Elizabeth Weber. Only students with superb artistic level and above-average education are called into question. The University¡¯s internal pre-selection procedure consists of an audition in order to assess artistic abilities and an interview with the candidate. The classification of the nominees shall be no greater than the 9th Semester for singers and the 7th Semester for all other subjects. Postgraduate students can also be recommended: soloist class or in master's degree program who have been admitted to study for the Winter Semester.
Yamaha Stipendien-Wettbewerb
The Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe ¨C in short YMFE ¨C awards scholarships once a year to students of various musical disciplines. The Yamaha Company informs the respective music schools about the annual competition through posters and flyers.
